Life Post

Yesterday, I met with a young successful CEO from a Japanese company. He said he failed a lot when he was young, a lot of people said he had foolish dreams but he went on with it. One of the thing he said that struck a core was that, “In life, making a decision is not choosing the right one out of many and based on what other people think. The most important thing is deciding on something that you trust the most. Work hard and trust yourself enough, so that you can prove to yourself that you were right.”

Ten years ago today, I was supposed to see my first L’Arc~en~Ciel concert ever. I had won a ticket for a special show that I got from entering a lucky number from the album SMILE. Being _just_ your typical broke college student, I was unable to attend the concert and I gave the tickets away to my friend who wasn’t a fan of L’Arc~en~Ciel but had helped me enter the number through her phone. Being a loyal fan for 6 years, at the time, I was so devastated at the time and a friend comforted me that this wasn’t a set back but a trigger so that I do more than just see them live in concert.

Fast forward to now, that moment had really been the turning back point to my somewhat whirlwind life ๐Ÿ™‚ Even though some see it as useless, I have focused my life to that one band. The dream went on being from seeing them live to seeing them live in Japan to inviting them to Indonesia. It may not be L’Arc~en~Ciel, but the experience that I got from working with VAMPS was priceless.

So, really never let anyone tell you that your dreams are foolish and useless. Trust yourself enough to make your dreams come true. The only one you need to prove yourself to is you.

ใ‚‚ใ†ไธ€ไบบใฎhyde. ใ‚‚ใ†ไธ€ไบบใฎHYDE.

I don’t know if you noticed or not, but for quite some time I utterly hated a little band called VAMPS. When it was first announced that HYDE would do a new unit with KAZ instead of a solo project I was a bit disappointed because it wouldn’t really be a “solo”, it was the same kind of disappointment when tetsu played bass for Creature Creature, but I decided to give them a try, I mean it IS hyde.
I did buy all of their singles even with the suckiness that is I GOTTA KICK START NOW because I had high hopes for them. But I drew the line on the album I only find 3-4 songs actually worth listening, the rest are just novelty songs. I hated them because they are more active than L’Arc and they don’t really let me savour the excitement I had when L’Arc actually has something to look forward to (so, it was very personal). Whenever L’Arc announced they were about to release something out like a single or DVD, before that single was released, there went VAMPS announcing they were having some kind of world tour.
For quite a while I hated HYDE in VAMPS which led me to hate hyde in L’Arc, which was an awful feeling because I loved this band for 12 years now. But recently, I had come to terms with the situation. Now, I consider that the HYDE in VAMPS -the wannabe rock star that has god-awful arm tats and toasting with a bottle of beer every time a show ends- and the hyde in L’Arc -the one I have been a fan of for 12 years- are two different persons. That way it’ll be easier for my mind to not be bothered by what VAMPS is doing. The man’s an Aquarius; he has a certain gift with adapting (or the curse if being washed away by the current). In conclusion, I have no more problems with HYDE in VAMPS since itโ€™s not really hyde and come to think of it the name hyde has never been so fitting.

New found love

It’s been a while since I really blogged about L’Arc~en~Ciel, I do have to admit that the reason was lack of activity on their part and the full blown activity of VAMPS. The recent release of BLESS wasn’t really fullfiling also. It was good but not great. The best part of the song was actually when it almost reaches the end when ken throws in those guitar riffs. To put it in short I was a bit bored. I also spent a little time away from their music because I couldn’t find anymore surprises and for some parts because I think that their music was reminiscent of a great time that has passed, that now in reality I am living in a world where L’Arc has subdued and the members are concentrating more on their solo/unit project than the band itself.

The news of a ‘members selection’ best album that comes in four different CD weren’t exactly the kind of activity I was hoping for, that it was another ploy to extort fans. I mean how many ‘best of albums’ one band can release? They already have 4 now, to add another one with ‘a twist’ was just redundant for me to buy seeing that I already have every single CD they’ve released and I have no reason to buy that CD due to my undying love for them and for the sake of completion, well, the L’Arquiz DVD bonus was a tangible bonus

But then there were news that the QUADRINITY CDs wil be remastered, and I thought that this is something actually worth to look forward to! Around the same time down at jrocknyc, Go was having this ‘Choose Your Own Greatest Hits’ for L’Arc in which he asked his readers to pick 3 best songs from L’Arc, one for each different eras. It struck me there, when I feel that extremely hard to nominate which songs are better than the other seeing that all of their songs are nothing short of great. So, there I realize that L’Arc even the post 2000 hiatus is still a great band, regardless. So here I am with my new found love (yet again) toward this awesome band. See you guys in 2011!

P.S. for those of you who are interested, I’m selling all of my VAMPS single including some of the better ones: EVANESCENT and SWEET DREAMS.

“Best of…” CDs with a twist

L’Arc is going to release a member’s best selection that contains 4 audio CDs and 1 quiz CD about L’Arc. Considering that it has 5 CDs the price tag of less than 5000 yen seemed fair but it will be released on March where coincidentally I will be out of work since my boss has to go back to Japan. An addition to that they will also release Trans ASIA via PARIS live in Tokyo Dome DVD, it has two discs but I’m still wondering if there will be backstage shot or clips of other cities they’ve been to on they’re tour back on 2008. I guess I’m still hoping to see a much clearer glimpse of me and Ida when we attended the concert in Shanghai. This DVD will be on sale for around 7000 yen or so. Would like to have them both but I also gotta save up for they’re live in 2011 >_<.

On another note, I've just finished organizing most of my L'Arc song into my iPod. It was a whole lot of work since I wanted them to be perfectly organized. I had to rewrite some of the tags and I attached cover arts and Japanese lyrics to them. I'm lacking some stuff though, mainly some songs from Sony's infamous Labelgate CD. First thing tomorrow I'm gonna download the songs.

Pooped out.

I’m pretty pooped out this month. There seemed to be no end of it. This march seemed very long because there were lots of things going on with work -especially with the seminar- and On! Project. I’ve almost reached my limit -_-”

On this month there are also many releases, but sadly only one from L’Arc X( the dvd of L’7 ๐Ÿ˜„ i’m hoping for the best ^^. Other than that VAMPS are going to have a US tour -_-” and Ken is also busy with solo work.

The most shocking news was about the wedding of miyavi and melody. -_-” honestly, i don’t have a problem with him marrying melody. Other than that he is miyavi and he belongs to the public. Forgive me, i’m being incoherent. I’m just in the state of shock. Seishun ga nakushitashimaisou T.T

On other notes, I’ve started a new blog that tracks my waking up time. My boss recommended it to me since his daughter is using it also. You can find it at www.hayaoki-seikatsu.com/users/hydevilist. The entries will be totally different from this blog. I’m off to bed ๐Ÿ˜„ good night.

Happy (belated) New Year

Well, I’ve been having some sort of writer’s block for a while, that and I was (and still) extremely busy with my job -___-“. There are so may things I wanted to write about but I can’t seem to get the words out of my head. This was proven when I had some copy writing to do for On! Project‘s media kit (I’ve been meaning to talk about this for ages). But, I decided I had to force it out since, I really miss blogging T-T.

So what have I been up to for the last few weeks? Well…

  • I’ve been working with On! Project, which is a new idol group, a their manager and stuff. They performed in Nihon no Matsuri in Jakarta International Expo (the largest expo hall in Indo), 2 day performance in Mekarsari Amazing Tourism Park with the likes of Pinkan Mambo and J-rocks, and 3 days in IMMG’s Japanese Animation Festival in The Plaza Semanggi.
  • Joining in the pubescent frenzy of Twilight ๐Ÿ˜„ For me who loves vampires, this is the flick to see. I got to admit that there were some “Eh?” moments in the movie, but I was okay. Seeing a vampire family of 6 was worth it. If you’re a movie buff, don’t get your hopes up, just expect a teen flick with a twist, then you wouldn’t end up complaining about the movie like some of the people I know. Now I’m waiting for my New Moon and Eclipse to arrive.
  • Having a quiet new year’s eve gathering with Aike and Frida. First me and Aike spent the day eating out in Bogor with Vaz and then after Vaz had gone home me and Aike went to see Twilight (3rd time for me and 8th time for her, coz she is that crazy). I love the soundtrack ๐Ÿ˜„
  • Meeting a friend from childhood, Thomas, which turned out to be fun. I hadn’t met him in like 10 years, so it was good to see him again.
  • Watch HOUSE season 5! It’s the best season yet!
  • Organizing JICA seminars in Surabaya and Batam, which means I got to travel ๐Ÿ˜„ I’m planning on going to Singapore via Batam with my friend Vro and Brigitta. But on a heavier note, this is going to be tiring. On the 19th I’ll be out of town except on the weekends. YOSH! GAMBARE!

So, here are my 2009 resolutions:

1. Work harder in a job that I like.

2. Stick to my saving plan for L’Arc concert in 2011.

3. Keep healthy, work out more.

4. Maybe _try_ and find love.

5. Graduate -_-”

In retrospect 2008 was, so far, the greatest year I have ever had (with the L’Arc concert in Shanghai and stuff) and it would be a challenge to make 2009 as exciting as 2008.

PS. I FREAKING MISS L’Arc~en~Ciel!!! So far, no signs of any activities in 2009 T-T. Ken focusing on his solo single, album, and tour -the whole nine yards-, which is great because I love Ken’s music (Speed WAS AWESOME!), I heard news of a VAMPS album… err no comment on this (-__________-“). I’m glad that they’re still producing music but…

I FREAKING MISS THEM!!!
